Carla Mineo • Creative Fiber

Her research stems from the intersection of design thinking and the use of fiber as a constructive element.
In this space of balance between control and variation, weave, color, and rhythm become tools to investigate visual perception and the relationship between surface and space.

With a background in graphic design, her work develops from an interest in image structure and visual systems based on rhythm, balance, grid, and spatial tension. Through natural fiber threads, she constructs compositions where line becomes structure, transforming matter into a mark capable of generating surfaces, densities, and visual pauses.

The repetition of manual gestures produces modules and variations that define a field of relationships between solids and voids, shaping a three-dimensional and material language.

The fiber structures are developed through modular systems and grids progressively built through a slow and controlled process, where design precision confronts the variability of the gesture.

Alongside these, the luminous fiber elements introduce light as an integral part of the process, not only as a function but as a component that modifies the perception of matter and space. Light passes through the weave, emphasizing its tensions and contributing to a dialogue between surface, depth, and environment.

Color plays a central role throughout her research. It is not used as a decorative element but as a structural component capable of defining visual hierarchies, tensions, and balances, contributing to the construction of rhythm and the perception of space.

Each work is made entirely by hand using mainly natural fibers. The process keeps the dialogue between design and gesture visible, making each intervention an integral part of the visual construction.

The works are unique pieces designed to interact with architectural spaces and contemporary environments. Upon request, she creates customized projects in relation to the context and specific needs.
